Musky, Musky, Musky !!

Musky...the idea of catching a musky on the fly gets my adrenaline going just thinking about it. Chasing one of these dragons is going to be one of my goals this summer, and early spring. I have been ; pondering, googling, instagraming, emailing, just to see what I have to tie, use , and do, to catch one of these thugs!

With all of these things running through my head, I invested in a pack of 4/0s, buck tail, flashabou, synthetics, and more clear cure goo to see of what I could come up with that could get a follow, strike, or even catch one of these fish of 10,000 casts.

Pickering Creek Stream Report

Hello everybody ! I have been doing a lot of fishing since I have been back ! I have recently been going to the Pickering for some delayed harvest action, great weather has came the past three days and has really provided Frankie, and a new addition to the fishing crew, John, and I with tons of action ! The past three days we have reached in to the fish a thing totals in the low 100s between the three of us !

Fishing are holding steady in deep pools and runs. They can also be found in some flat water rising to midges and little black stoneflies. Big producers for us have been micro eggs, wooly buggers, midges ranging from sizes 18-26, and other various small nymphs. Indicator a single split shot has been doing well with a fly. Only one trout has been caught on a dry fly between the three of us but others have caught them on drys as well.

I would caution you to be polite and curtious to others fishing spots that you would like to fish. It has come to our attention that people have forgotten what fishing etiquette is. We have had numerous people come trudging through , around, upside down the holes we are fishing. Its a small creek, not alot of good holes to fish but if there is room to squeeze in then do it, just be polite and fish a section of that hole that you can fish.

Other than that the rain is on it's way an I am going to be interested to see what it is going to do and how the fish are going to react. I'm hoping for no rain or off and on showers, but who knows !?

All in all have fun and get out !!
Keep them reels screaming.

The GOO is the POO !

Well I did it !! I finally did it !! I bought the goo!! A new innovative fly tying tool/material it's just in a league of its own ! I bought the starter kit at The Bears Den fly shop in Massachusetts! It was only 50$ and came with two syringes two nozzels two nozzel covers and a curing light. One contains thin goo and the other has thick. The thin and thick is just a different viscosity. It amazed me to see how fast it cured ! 3-7 seconds is all it takes! It a very very neat thing to use for your flies.
Highly recommended !!

Today is the day...

Today is the day... Today is the last and final day I will be a resident of Massachusetts. Tomorrow I will be headed home to Pennsylvania, where my 2013 fishing season will start. It was a tough weekend, resulting in being swept and knocked out first round of the AJHL Playoffs. It has been a great experience for me, I have grown as a hockey player and as an individual. My host family could not have been better and treated me like their own family member. With the last two weeks at the vice I have still been sticking with Smallmouth Bass and Musky patterns. I have also greatly expanded my fly tying material inventory with all sorts of materials from synthetics to saltwater material. Here are some photos of the last two weeks I spent at the vise!
